The unofficial mascot of the Eurovision Singing contest 2007
In 2006 Finland won the Eurovision singing contest and would be hosting the show the following year. It was a big PR opportunity for Finland - and the tourism board should not screw it up. A comic opportunity, we thought.
Introducing Markku – a man on a mission to invite the world to Finland for Eurovision.
So, is he a good promoter for Finland? No. But he is very active.
Media found Markku fast and made him the phenomenon of the year. After numerous TV-interviews and magazine features, we were offered our own TV show to host the Eurovision contest.
Since then we've created 45 Youtube videos, 3000 personalised greetings and 21x30min episodes for SubTV, the 2nd biggest commercial TV-station, including two Christmas special weeks.
